Dear, Professor G
Thank you for letting me miss your class to vote. I am very grateful that you allowed me to go because I would have had to wait another four years to have my say in who makes important decisions about our futures. Over all my fist time voting was fun, there was a bit of a line but when I got into the booth I knew who I was going to vote for (OBAMA). I felt a sense of American pride when I clicked the buttons and pulled the lever. I was even happier to see him win because he is the only non-white president in American history. I guess we are in for a fun and different four years. I hope Obama can get America back to the super power it once was. I think every one should vote no matter who for because it is a great experience knowing you helped shape your nations future. Watching Obama’s acceptance speech inspired me. He is a very good speaker and I believe he will do great things for our country.

I agree with Dereck and would like to thank you also for letting your students miss class to vote. This was a historical election and the lines were huge but after all it was worth it because in the end because we got to participate in historic election. Also many young people participated in this election which is rear because young people have the lowest turnout rate compare to all the other age groups. I remember walking home that day at 8 pm and seeing a group of students probably from NYU caring a long string I think it was flags tied to each other and yelling Obama. I was really happy Obama winning because for me personally he had one big advantage over McCain which was the intention to end war in Iraq because it sad to see all those soldiers die plus we can see the financial result which is very bad. I also like Obama ability to give speeches. Right away you can tell he’s a natural speaker and very educated I also notice that he models some of his speeches from Martin Luther King Jr.

I am very proud that I exercised my right to vote on Tuesday for the first time. I am also very prud that Barack Obama won. He did the unthinkable, he risen from a senator just 4 years ago to now the president in the United States. He is now the first African American president. Change is comming, and these are just the first big steps toward change. He was able to cross racial barriers and make it happen. He also captivated the majority of the 18-29 year old voters, now we see that it is imperative for our voice to be heard. The next thing I want to see in my lifetime is a woman becoming president, that would be very awesome and historis indeed.

I have never voted in my native country because I felt as if there was nobody who can represent me. BUT...on Tuesday morning when my BF went to vote, I was jealous. For the first time in my life, I felt as if there is somebody, Obama, who can represent my needs and speak for me. When Obama won, I felt alive again. In the last year, I felt as if America is not what I believed it was. I came here to succeed and not to realized that American Dream may die soon. However, with Obama as the president of USA, I feel American dream will survive.
People in my neighborhood, Morningside Park-Harlem, were out on the streets celebrating the new President. The “gypsy cabs” were driving around and beeping like crazy. Even my friends and family back home woke up very early in the morning to see if Obama will win. Matter of fact, the most of world was waiting for Obama to win.
Yesterday when I went to school, I noticed something unusual. People were happy and they were smiling. For me that was a great feeling, and I know why. People start to dream again. They are confident Barack will speak for them and he will make a CHANGE they need. Many of my friends send me texts that they can dream again and the future looks much brighter now.

It was a historic night for America. This was my first election that I truly followed because it was definitely one that would change America's future. I see a hopeful and bright America with Obama leading am I am certain he will stick to his words. The last few years were not that great but Obama will be the CHANGE we need. There are always people who will oppose the new President-elect but everyone has their right to their own views. Today on the train, I saw an African American guy saying stuff to other blacks on the train and it were words that made them angry. I didn't hear what he was saying since I had earphones on but the passengers were not happy. This shows that even people of the own race may oppose but the election was not about race, it was about electing someone who will govern our country to peace and prosperity.

Nov 04, 2008 will stay a memorable night for everybody. I am so glad for having been here to know this historical moment. Follow this special election in another language or context would not have the same impact on me. People have never been exciting to vote like that. It was considered as a civic and moral action. OBAMA clearly deserves it and we can all be proud of him. He brought back happiness, love, hope and faith in a better America. Women, men, white and black people, kids, youth…the entire nation went in the street to scream his name. Governing a country is not an easy task but, no matter what, he has the support of the whole nation and I know he will make it. Matter fact, WE MADE IT!!!

Once again, I can feel the great power and influence created by Obama in his talk. It seems to be that this new United States president did bring a hope to the people on the land.
The decline of U.S. economy is one of the main reason that putting Obama in the White House. Apparently, he looks confident while he was promising that the government would generally improve the economic status including welfare and unemployment rates, not only the stock market.
Obviously, it is not an easy job for fulfilling all of the aims in one or two years. To see if picked the right person, we still have to wait.

"The New First Family, a New President and a New America" goes along with the CHANGE this country needed. Throughout the whole campaign the now President-Elect Obama showed to have not only the willingness but the strength and ability it takes to proudly represent the United States.
Among other impressive points during his victory speech, he also stated:"Our union can be perfected and what we have already achieved, gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow". Within these words i can see improvement, hard work, eagerness for a better society and all is nicely merged with a sense of humanity and hope.
Above all i would like to emphasize that as many, i am proud to have witnessed the elections of 2008.

Everytime i hear Obama giving a speech i get chills. I feel so happy for everyone as well as myself even though this is not my native county i feel very hopeful for the future because he said he will bring change to this country which is just what it needs. I also hope the racial barrier wil be lowered or even removed completely. Most of my friends from other countries were also excited to know that he has come so far and to win is even a greater honor. When i read the article about him and how much courage it took him and his family to actually face the challenge of being ridicled and even threathen a few times. I think many people especially Arican Americans who have been around for years and have seen how America has changed since the time Martin Luther King, Jr's time and finally i feel like his dream has come through or will in months and years to come.

I am so happy that I voted for Barack Obama. I love that my first time voting in America is such a historic Presidential Election the 44th President of the United States of America. When people ask me what was I doing on the day Mr. Obama got elected...I will say, voting for him!
