wow thats pretty cool, in the coming years everyone will have a fly car and houses that float in the sky like the jetsons. its kinda scary too how a computer will be able to do more then the entire human race. the number of honor students in china could is grater then the number in the united states because there are so many people in china and india. the time it took this video the play there were more then 3 and 5 times the amount of babies being born in china and india then in the united states so some of the statistics about education could be misleading.
i think this can be used in a very positive way when it comes to communicate and exchange about differents culture, which can only better one understanding of the other. thats what the world is in need of nowadays. lets use technology to bridge the gaps.

THis video made me think that soon English will be replaced by Chinese as a language of international communication. Very interesting fact was conveyed that top 10 most paid jobs didn't exist 10 years ago. THe world is changing more rapidly than we think
I found it crazy how computers & technology can possibly take over species. It was estimated that a computer is going to be more capable than an entire human race. =/Walking Robots anyone? lol
I also found it interesting how Nintendo spent $140 million dollars on research in comparison to the U.S. Federal System who spend less than half of that amount for research & education.
The fact that half of what students learn in their first year of study, will be outdated by their third year, would make anyone think what do we study for then? lol
This video proves that the world still has a far way to go and that there are many things that we have yet to learn about it.

It’s quite amazing how fast our technology growing, but this growing technology can be more fruitful, if we can spread the knowledge throughout the world. It’s quite a phenomenon, how the developing countries are catching up with the U.S. in terms of technology. This kind of data helps us to understand how fast our world is moving. Because of mass media, our world became much smaller. Now we are living in a Global Village.
Yea, the fact that the most english speaking country is China is crazy, though i have heard it before. Everything around us is changing. How can we deal with it? and more importantly....would it matter if we tried? if computers that dont even cost that much will soon surpass us, whats the point? I find it a very eire idea that everything im learning now will become obsolete by the time im graduating. If the world is developing so fast, its not even about what will we do...its about what CAN we do?
those videos made me feel very useless in a sense......... :(

Well, even if China is going to be the next power house country, China is causing the world to suffer. Since they are a developing country, and have one of the largest populations, they are poluting the world. I also remember reading about the less carbon emission pact or osmething and how china didn't want to sign it and caused the u.s to not sign it.
Maybe in the future people will be moving to china instead of the us.
This was definitely an inspring, interesting, and thought provoking video. I was amazed to see how things will be so different in the years to come. Come to think about it, it kind of scared me a bit. To think that the world will change so much, it makes me wonder...will everybody in the world be ready for all of these superficial changes?
I don't think I am but yet again...who knows? Maybe all of these changes will improve the world, hopefully. there were some facts that stunned me a bit. For example, the fact about how Nintendo invested more money into research and education than our own Federal Government did actually disturbed me. After seeing this fact, I thought to myself, "What does the governemt do with all of our money?" I know that the money is handed out to insurances, medicaid, departments such as the police or fire, but I'm sure that's not all of our taxes cover. I work at times for a temping agency and I see how much money I get taken out for taxes and social security. Social security I can understand because it goes for your retirement, but the taxes..it hurts to see the amount of money I lose at times =[...hehe that's how I feel and I'm sure many others do as well.
As for the computer that can surpass our brain capacity and intelligence...props. I never knew that an electronic device can outweight the intellignece of the human species...is that even impossible?
I just hope the world won't depend all of itself on technology, because sometimes technology can make mistakes at times. Hopefully, the world can stay as simple as it can be, because I believe life will be easier that way.

That was different. One would think that because a lot of people leave their country to go to the U.S. that America is the best at everything they do...Oh boy is that wrong, I mean some feel that the reason as to why people from other countries are more competitive is because they know that in order to exceed in a native country, they must be just as good, if not better than the people they will come across. Also, I don't know how true this is but it's said that the excessive amount of children in China and India, like in other countries helps make the possibility of one person in the family exceed, more likely.
This video has given the data which helps to understand how fast the world is moving and how fast the technology is growing throughout this world.
It is amazing to think how fast the world is changing even just around us. I mean around ten years ago no one even knew what a cell phone was. Now even fifth graders have them. You could go into your a week, come out, and find that the world is a completely new advanced place. The rate at which we are finding cures, developing new technologies, and expanding is amazing. Flying cars don't seem too futuristic these days.
After watching this video, i realized how rapidly the world is changing. I remember when i was 12 and used to go buy cassettes for my Sony Walkman. It was like a treat for me. Those 18 songs that came with the cassette was what the recording studios thought you would like. Now lets revert back to the present day. In a mere 8 years, i am able to keep whatever i like and whatever quantity i like on my iPod. I don't have to fast forward songs so i could listen to my favorite. No. I can simply press two or three buttons and Voila i'm listening to ma' jam.
It is the influx of new technology which has enabled us to see our lives in a more luxurious manner and truly they have become more comforting.
The statement that we are being trained to "solve problems that don't exist" is a very powerful one. Time and energy is being invested to create new and innovative things and it's funny that with the more that is invented, with the more problems that we are able to solve thanks to those inventions, we also have even more problems added on. It is like a never ending cycle, and the new technology that allows us to do so much, in some way also hinders us.

Technology has bridged the gaps to unbelievable extents, which is especially useful if you are living in a country like the united states, where people have loved ones from all over the world. For example my dad lives in Ukraine, and i speak to him almost every day, and added to that speak to him on aim and through email, which is truly amazing, and Very very touching.

This is funny. People are becoming so into there phones that they text message more times than there are people. I think thats it's an easy way to send information, but there may come a point where we start to lose social skills because everyone interacts with there cell phones more than with there neighbors.
I can't wait to see what is going to happen in next 10 years, I saw this video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuyLx9w2-gQ&feature=related which is thrilling and, I think this is just the beginning. And if we can see a visual of a product, it means that they have developed that thing and they have already started to develop the next thing.
I dunno prof., I'm still very hesitant to jump in and say, "gee wow" when given such stark "percentages."
Yes, India's HIGHEST upper-class children may be doing better in schools and may all be speaking English as a college graduate, but that video is missing a vary large piece of India society. Such as this little fact from Frontline:

This video shows how technology will soon be more powerful than us and the question is whether it is a good thing? I am ussually very excited about all the modern technlogy and new ideas but i feel like as the technology develpos more na dmore we start to live in a society that is not as free as it used to be. Very soon computers will run everything and there will be no privacy freedom for people.
There are some argueable things in this video,maybe china and india have a better education system, same as in latin america, but their obstacle is still remains to be poverty.But i think they could be the great powers one day, because they have alot of things the US lacks. i think what remains important is the notion of sharing ideas. Nations should try to benefit from one another and exchange ideas, bc whats lacking in one side the other has.
There shouldn't be too many extremes, specially with technology, i know its helpful, but i hope it never gets to the point were all our human relationships and experiences come from a computer. Which reminds me of an an old letter, written by my grandfather to my mom, before he had passed away. It was nice to hold something personal and touched by another many years ago, and to look at the handwriting, which says many things about the person. - Cynthia Via
I learned a lot from this video. When the first question was asked "Whcich is the richest country in the world," I automatically thought it was the United States. But it is clear to me that India and China are ahead of us in all the categories. Is it because thos countries have more people? Most likely!

wow some of these stats are astonishing. i find it so hard to believe that more chinese kids took the ap english exam than american kids did. i would never thought that to be true had i not watched this
i think it's amazing and also very frightening the way technology is moving today. i don't think people think the way they used to anymore. everything is so advanced and i guess that's good for financial and standard of living needs but it's also scary how impersonal and cld our world is becoming because of these advances.

I was so impressed by the video that it was very difficult for me to answer the questions shown even it seemed to be easy. We didn't know the youth nowadays consumed so much time on TV and video games. We didn't know that so many messengers were sent over the world. We didn't know employees have a tendency for involving in more than 10 jobs before their 38th birthday. And we, as a student, didn’t know that the things we learned would be trash after two years. It is too amazing when using the term "Shift Happens" to describe the above? I realize no one could predict human would be dominated by computer and Internet 20 years ago. But the fact proves they were wrong. World keeps changing and we, as human being, or any living things on the world, have to adapt to it. So sad to say, it is our fate.
