I do not believe in magic, I think it is just well planned tricks. I do believe in ghosts, due to my own personal experience and dreams that happened after my grandmother died. Though I can not say I believe in magic, maybe its because I have no spiritual connection to it.

I do not believe in magic also. I believe in science. Because i think it is part od psychology stuff. When you dream something, that is because you think about it uncounsious in the day time and you didn't feel it. And the magic is just tricks, blind your eyes.

Come on we all know magic is fake ,plenty of magicians after years of dedication decide to tell people how they performed those mind blowing tricks. Magicians are just very talented illusionist

Totally agree with what anonymous just said lol. Magicians are really talented to create illusions to make people believe. They trick was hott.

i agree with all the rest. magic is NOT real. there simply well planned out acts.

i personally don't believe magic is real. it's just a series of well planned illusions that manipulate your mind &your senses. i think the movie The Prestige is a good example illustrating "magic"

i don't believe magic is true. it is that, the magicians are very skillful and they know how to create illusions.

I do not believe in magic but i can understand why some people do.The purpose of using magic is to make people thinking that extraordinary event could happen. As religion, people need to believe in something and believe in magic enables people to see life differently, another way to explain phenomenas is possible. Personally, i love watching magic shows but i always have the same reaction after by trying to find what was the trick and perhaps i miss something by focusing on the tricks used. The sin of magic is to make people dream and escape from our daily life.

I have never believed in magic, but if anybody were to convince me otherwise it would be David Blaine. All magicians perform impressive tricks, but Blaine seems to be on another level. Many people claim to see him levitate in front of their eyes on the street, and I couldn't even begin to think how you can fake that. Still, as other have said, I believe magic is certainly fake, because I refuse to believe that Blaine and other magicians were born with special powers.

I don't believe in magic either. I think that magic is a very difficult skill that not many people can master or understand, and thats why they beleive in it. David Blaine is just a great illusionist with great skills.

I don't believe in magic. Along with everyone else I believe that magicians are people that are well trained. Magicians dedicate their lives to learning new tricks and making them seem so realistic. It is nothing but a mirage. Eyes can also play tricks on you 2..lol. No one has a special "gift".

I agree with everyone else who commented magic is not real. It is just made up for when there cannot be a real explanation. People often say that something is "magical" when something they cannot explains happens

I’m skeptical about magic. I think magic exists for whoever wants to believe in it. However, some illusionists are so good at playing with one’s mind that you can’t find a natural explanation of how it is done. So, sometimes it’s hard not to believe. That trick of replacing coffee with coins; I can’t imagine how he did it.

This was unbelievable. I often wonder if magic is real. I've heard many stories about magic components beings used as remedies for illness and such. But it is hard to say whether this is possible. I can honestly say that I am simply stunned by David Blaine in general. Many of his "tricks" are original and mind- boggling. Maybe magic is real, maybe we just don't believe and therefore cannot see it.

A lot of times, "magic" is prepared. If you youtube Cyril takayama, and read the comments, you can see how fake the "magic" is. Magicians or people give educated guesses or even the actual solution on how the trick is prepared. David Blaine has a signature "levitating" trick. They revealed it to be just him lifting one leg and them editing it on the television. You can't believe what is recorded, only what you see with your eyes. If you rewatch the video, you clearly see him push under the coffe cup, the coins were placed their earlier and everything was setup. Unless i start seeing talking trees and flying pigs, I'll be uninterested in "magic".

I have to say, that trick was amazing. However, I still think that magic is only an explanation for things technology hasn't been able to answer yet. Througput the history of mankind, we as humans had relied in magic whenever there's somehting that goes beyond our reasoning.

This trick is great. I do not belive in magic but it is very entertaining to watch. If anyone has seen David Blane special where he went to Haiti( i think) he did a trick in front of a lady where he turned a coin into something. Right away she started to walk back because she belived it as black magic. I belive that as Americans or living in America were so used to seeing strange and weird things that we dont even notice

Anonymous said...

I don't beleive in magic, but, still what David Blaine did was amazing. That must require intense hard work and concentration. There is something weird about it. EVen though we know its allusion but how can somebody fool a person like that?

Anonymous said...

This video was really cool but I definitley dont believe in magic. It would be fun to believe that his coffee really did disappear and turn into change but it's a little too far past reality for me to believe.

This video is quite amazing as it depicts the practice of magic which by the way seems to be present in most cultures. although iam wondering why cant he just get a whole fortune and live life quitely. i have always heartd that magician cannot benefit from magic whta does that really mean?

I do not believe in Magic at all. Magic is just a trick of the eyes and shows how good or bad someone is at making people believe in their trick.

Anonymous said...

Ok...so we all agree, magic isnt real. If it were, blaine wouldnt need his show...just keep magically making money and thats all he needs to do, but obviously thats not the case.

And one more thing....
if someone explained this trick...please tell me where the coffee went if he pushed the coins up?
if he pushed them up, the coffee shouldve spilled over but instead...it just changed...how?!?

Wow...this dude is AWESOME!!!!! hehe...I love this guy. I have seen his show many times in the past and I have always been amazed with what he can do. I still don't know whether to believe in magic or not, I sometimes do, and then I sometimes don't. Maybe it is real, but we just don't know it. One friend of mine is very good at magic and I remember sharing this with the class one day. I came to visit him at his job and i had my notebook and my freshman seminar book (which we never used btw...). He took out my notebook and wrote down a word on the right hand corner of my notebook, and of course I didn't see it. He then asked me to pick any number, and I chose #14 for some weird reason. He told me to read the first word in it and I did, and then he turned my notebook around and it was the same word he had written on the right hand corner!

After seeing this magic trick he had successfully performed, I asked him..."ok how did you do that?!!" and he said..."It's magic"...and ever since that day, I wonder to myself...how did he know the exact same word that was on page 14?? and How would he have known that I would pick page 14 or even on our Baruch Freshman Seminar Book? (He goes to John Jay btw...therefore he doesn't have this book). I am still surprised today and don't know what to think about it. Who knows...maybe my friend is right...it might just be MAGIC...=]

I agree with all,I myself don't believe in Magic either because it is not real but just a trick.Though I video was amazing but still there was a trick used in it.

I definitely believe in magic. Although what all of these guys like David Blaine and Chris Angel do are tricks to deceive you, it does definitely seem real to me. I know that what they are doing cannot be possible. I think!

Rave said...

I guess i agree with Remington. Magic exists but people like David Blaine and Chris Angel are just showbiz people. It is their job to make you think that they have magic powers.
Real magic exists in nature. The ancient tribes who practice Voodoo do believe in something extraordinary.
Also, we have to consider the fact that religious implications apply to our believes too. Don't forget the Salem witch huntings.

I can't watch things like this, they make me extremely anxious to find out how it's done. I do believe though that I am a major skeptic, and the things that i see on t.v. i rarely believe, but if i was to see something like this in person I might be quickly converted into a believer of his magic, it's all about the presentation.

i do not believe in magic but i do believe in very good iullusions, slight of hand wrist, etc. he is well- trained and good at convincing others that what he is doing is magic

This was a very easy yet effective trick to perform. He used camera editing to hide the way he switched the cups. Magic is a great way for people to believe in something that they know themselves could never be true. Like Paul Farmer, no one thought he would ever accomplish his goals or like Neil Armstrong who landed on the moon.

there are certain things in this life that we cannot explain i give you that. However certain things are just ludicrous. these things are just illusions that may appear to be real by use of the technology we have. Nowadays i can literally take a picture of myself and use photoshop to look as if i can walk on water. As for the recipient of said "magic" i believe that they are either bought off or just go along with it.

In a way I do believe in magic, maybe not through the trick itself but through the magician using his talents to fool my mind!
Have you ever seen a child on christmas morning, as they run to the living room to see what Santa Claus left them? That same child eventually grows up and learns that Santa is really your mom/dad/guardian, or anyone else who is a care giver. In a way something dies inside that child forever. So for me I'm going to keep on believing in magic and the impossible because I want to hold on to that piece of me forever!

Wow this video is crazy. Well I Think David Blane is crazy himself. I don't believe in magic however I do believe that there are some people out there that have something else in them. There are just some things that happen that are just unexplainable. There was this case in my best friends house that is still unexplainable to this day. Her sister passed away and every year on her death they buy fresh flowers and place them in front of her picture in the living room. During the last few days in September it was no different. Her mom bought the flowers and placed them with fresh water in the living room. 15 minutes later the water turned beat red. Blood red. No one touched the vase. My best friend found it odd so she through out the water and refilled it with fresh water and the same thing happened again. Now I don't believe in witch craft or magicians but that is just unexplainable. I have hyper linked a picture if the vase. No one in the family knows why that happened but it did and that's the way it still is in the living room till this day. Wow this video is crazy. Well I Think David Blane is crazy himself. I have always like magic, but I don’t believe in it. I think is really impressing how the magicians are able to do so many tricks by playing with our mind. The video was really interesting and I was astonished when I saw how the magician converted coffee into coins. I always wonder how they do those tricks and if this particular one had something to do with camera effects. There is a show that‘s aired in channel 9 on Mondays that is called “Breaking the Magician’s code.” This show basically reveals the secrets of how the magician’s do their tricks. I think it is very interesting, but many magicians have been upset at this show because it reveals their secrets of how truly magic works.

I don't believe in Magic. However, I want to practice magic tricks like David Blaine. Its called magic tricks because its used to deceive and to trick people. Magic tricks are awesome and could you imagine how good you would be at parties. If magic was real and David Blaine could do that trick whenever he wanted do you think the guy needs a show. Just buy a cup of coffee and you could make yourself thousands. I especially don't believe in magic done on television because its always edited and prettied up. So unless David does that to my cup of coffee, its gonna be hard to believe.

oh wow that was amazing. Well i wouldn't say its magic because these days its all planned and there's always one small little thing that we never see. If it is magic just remember "a magician never reveals his secret."
